These are the issues that are currently of particular concern to us

The European Union needs digital solutions that work in everyday life – reliable, secure, interoperable and compliant with regulations. We are currently focusing in particular on three areas: sovereign digital government across borders, the secure operation of critical platforms, and the responsible use of data and artificial intelligence in public administration.

Sovereign Digital Government

Digital government in Europe must be sovereign, interoperable and sustainable in the long term. We focus on how administrative and specialist procedures can be designed to meet regulatory requirements, enable interoperability across institutions and Member States, and at the same time strengthen digital sovereignty and the ability to act. Materna contributes decades of experience in public administration – from eGovernment and register modernisation to complex specialist procedures such as ATLAS and EMCS.

Secure Operations and Managed Services

Digital sovereignty does not end with development. It becomes particularly evident in secure and stable operations. We focus on how the EU’s business- and mission-critical IT systems can be operated with lasting availability, resilience and compliance. This includes IT service management, cloud and platform operations, cyber security, managed services, and clear operational responsibility for digital infrastructures that public administrations, businesses and citizens can rely on.

Data and AI for Public Administration

Data and AI can make public administration more effective – provided they are used in a trustworthy, explainable and compliant manner. We therefore focus in particular on how data spaces, analytics, GenAI and automation can create real value in regulated public-sector environments: with quality-assured data, transparent governance, data protection, security, and people retaining responsibility and oversight throughout the process.
